Sarah Jane Surtees
After graduating with a degree in Design in 2003, Sarah Jane Surtees relocated to London, where she immersed herself in the city's creative and cultural landscape. Beginning her career at cult vintage institution Beyond Retro, she developed a discerning eye for curation, craftsmanship and storytelling, while working across buying, trend forecasting, visual merchandising and creative projects. During this period, she founded East End Lights, a bi-monthly exhibition series celebrating emerging and established artists, earning recognition from Vogue, Time Out and Topshop.
Alongside her work at Beyond Retro, Sarah Jane refined her creative perspective through roles with acclaimed milliner Noel Stewart, the events team at Dazed & Confused, and renowned publicist Fran Cutler. She later joined celebrated event stylist Fiona Leahy, contributing to immersive experiences and events for some of the world's most influential luxury houses, including Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Christian Louboutin.
Returning to Australia after seven years abroad, Sarah Jane continued to build a career spanning fashion, events and creative direction, working on projects for leading media, beauty and entertainment brands, as well as a number of notable private celebrations. Following senior styling roles at Decorative Events & Exhibitions and Kat & Co, she established Tiger Bowie in 2022~a creative studio shaped by a lifelong appreciation for design, entertaining and the transformative power of a beautifully considered gathering.
